Sprint 1 - It's happening

Hello there!

Last week we started on actually building the game, and now 2 weeks in to the project we want to share some cool stuff with you guys:

TECH

- New camera position

- Refined player movement (Dash, walking, jumping)

- Some of our item types have been scripted, but are not yet in the build.

ART

We added a nice blockout of what our level will look like, hope you like it!

Can't wait to fill the scene with colourful props and characters.

Speaking about characters, here is a good look at what our main character (The husband) will look like:

And a work in progress shot of our 3D layout for the character:

(this is a very highpoly version of what will be in the final product)

Programming

For the programming side this week, the focus was split between refining the player controls and movement and creating some of the different types of items.

Item-wise, obstacle objects were in the spotlight.

Every so often the wife will throw an obstacle item that will stay on the battlefield untill destoyed, and will block the player from passing trough. There are currently two types

- An obstacle that gets stuck in the ground on impact (knife, cleaver...)

- An obstacle that falls on the ground untill it remains motionless (helmet...)

For the player controls, a few movements hiccups have been fixed and the camera set-up was finished. The player being on a cylindrical arena, we had to tune the camera movements and player directions to follow the curve without to much jitter and deviations.
Later an extra bug task came on as some of the movement logic seemed to be not responding well to collisions with obstacles, but nothing that can't be fixed.

We hope you like the direction we are taking the project!

Next week will be the end of sprint 1, lets see how far we can get next week!

Thank you for taking the time for this weeks DevBlog, see you next week! \[T]/
